I–V plot

By convention, when plotting an I-V characteristic (current vs. voltage curve), you put:

Variable Symbol Axis Variable type Axis name
Voltage V horizontal (x-) axis independent variable abscissa
Current I vertical (y-) axis dependent variable ordinate
